This garden had a long lawn and the layout made the garden feel narrow. We removed the patio behind the garage to widen the garden and split the area into zones to give more interest. A gravel garden at the entrance to the garden makes the garden feel grander, the entrance feel wider and more intentional as a destination in itself. The circular lawn widens the garden as a whole, and gives more interest. This is a work in progress – more espaliered trees have been added since and the top of the garden will have circular vegetable patches. Roses and jasmine will cover the old fences and the herbs are settling in around the centre circle so more photos to come!
